Two variants of a roulette wheel are used - the European roulette wheel and the American roulette wheel. An important thing to know about the roulette wheel is that the American wheel has a single zero and a double zero, whilst there is only one zero panel on a European roulette wheel. Another aspect to think about is that on an American roulette wheel the numbers are placed in pairs opposite of each other. Therefore the European roulette wheel is statistically more favourable to the punter compared with an American roulette wheel. Even though efforts have been made to defeat the roulette wheel, such as the biased Monte Carlo wheel engineered by Joseph Jagger, none have proved successful over a long time period.
